USFIN For Chela Et Cetera - Fashion Journal Issue 199

Recently, our Creative Director, Daniel, was on set for Fashion Journal’s December issue, styling hair for musician Chela’s upcoming single, ALGORHYTHM. Working closely alongside our newest stylist, Fumika, the pair developed a look that was intentionally bold, experimental and unafraid to take up space.

For Daniel, the shoot became an opportunity to explore contrast and texture, pushing past convention to create something loud, expressive and in dialogue with Chela’s evolving sound.

Featured in Fashion Journal Issue 199, the shoot aligns with the publication’s final edition of 2025, themed around letting loose and prioritising joy. Across the issue, contributors reflect on joy as freedom: the ability to express oneself fully, without fear, constraint, or the pressure of the algorithm. Daniel’s work speaks directly to this ethos, embracing experimentation as a form of reinvention and self-expression.

To achieve the final look, Daniel used KEVIN.MURPHY’s SESSION.SPRAY and Shark Beauty’s SpeedStyle allowing for flexibility, hold and texture while maintaining a raw, lived-in feel. The result is a style that mirrors the spirit of the issue: playful, fearless and unconcerned with rules.

Fashion Journal Issue 199 is now available, with thousands of free copies distributed across Melbourne and Sydney at selected retailers, studios, salons and creative spaces.
