Daniel Jianing Backstage at Erdem with Eugene Souleiman
Daniel Jianing, our creative director, spent London Fashion Week backstage with the KEVIN.MURPHY team at Erdem's Spring 2027 show, where Eugene Souleiman, the brand's Global Professional Ambassador, with clientele spanning Prada, Alexander McQueen, Maison Margiela, Yohji Yamamoto, Celine, and Chanel, led the hair direction.
Erdem Moralioglu's Spring 2027 collection drew on Barbette, the Texas-born aerialist who performed as a woman in 1920s Paris and removed his wig at the end of every act. The clothes carried that same duality: the most feminine underwear layered against sharply masculine tailoring.
Souleiman designed the hair to centre on the push and pull of masculinity and femininity. "The whole show is about duality in terms of gender," he said. That came through in two contrasting looks: shorter hair combed to the side then deliberately disrupted with a hairdryer and longer hair centre-parted and braided low at the nape before being pulled apart. Daniel worked alongside the team to bring that vision to life backstage
